Small Moments, Wide Horizons

Much of ranch life is made up of moments that would never be considered extraordinary by those living them. A long ride across familiar country, horses gathered beneath a changing sky, or a quiet pause in the day's work. Yet these are often the moments I find most worth painting.

Small Moments, Wide Horizons is a collection of original miniature paintings exploring the quiet rhythms of ranch life and the relationship between people, livestock, and the land they share. Weather and atmosphere weave through each piece, reflecting a landscape that is never simply a backdrop, but an ever-changing presence that shapes life on the ranch.

Working on a smaller scale, I've embraced loose, expressive brushwork, allowing light, colour, and suggestion to tell the story without getting caught up in every detail.

Though small in size, these paintings speak to the vastness of the country and the everyday lives unfolding within it.

An original collection of miniature paintings by Alexandra Verboom Fritz.

The stories of the West aren't always found in grand moments. More often, they're woven into the everyday—the familiar routines, the changing seasons, and the quiet connection between people, animals, and the land. These little paintings are a reminder that even the smallest moments can hold a story worth telling.

Each original painting is presented in a carefully selected frame, with unique shapes and sizes that give every piece its own character. Suitable for both tabletop display and wall mounting, these miniature originals can find a home on a favourite shelf, nestled into a gallery wall, or displayed together as a collection.
