    Intricate depictions of your subject combined with expansive landscapes, capturing the story and character of your land. Created using a reference image you provide, I can blend multiple elements—such as riders, cattle, and scenery—to craft a cohesive scene. Hats, clothing, horses, and dogs can be added, removed, or swapped to match your vision.

    On-Location Commissions

    For larger or particularly personal projects, I can come to you.

    An on-location commission allows me to spend time at your ranch or property, photographing the people, horses, livestock and landscape that make the place yours. From those photographs and the stories you share, I’ll develop an original composition that captures more than a single moment — it tells a fuller story of your life on the land.

    On-location commissions are available for paintings 24 × 36 inches and larger. Travel expenses and an on-location session fee are quoted individually based on the scope and location of the project.

The Custom Painting Process

  1. Share Your Story & Ideas
    Start by filling out my commission request form and telling me a little about what you’d like to have painted. You don’t need to have every detail figured out — we can work through the possibilities together.

  2. Choose Your Painting & Size
    We’ll decide on the commission option and dimensions that best suit your vision, reference material and space.

  3. Gather Your Reference Photos
    Send along the photographs you’d like me to work from. While clear, detailed images are always helpful, I can often work with a combination of photographs to create the scene you have in mind. People, horses, cattle, landscapes and other elements can be brought together from different references to tell a cohesive story.

  4. Reserve Your Place
    Once we’ve settled on the direction for your painting, a 50% deposit secures your place in my commission schedule. The remaining balance is due once your painting is complete and approved.

  5. Approve the Composition
    Before painting begins, I’ll create a preliminary composition for your approval. This is our opportunity to make adjustments and talk through details, colours and anything particularly important for me to capture.

  6. Your Painting Comes to Life
    This is where I bring everything together in paint. I’ll take the time needed to capture not only the subjects, but the landscape, atmosphere and story that make the piece yours. Please allow 8+ weeks for the full commission process.

  7. Final Approval & Delivery
    When your painting is finished, I’ll send photographs or video for your approval before preparing it for its journey home. Your artwork will arrive framed and carefully packaged, with complimentary shipping within Canada.
